Meet Hands and Feet's Director, Galia Binder (they/she). Galia holds a BA in cultural anthropology from Tulane University, where they studied Afro-Latinx communities of resistance. They also hold an MFA in media production, with a focus on social practice art. They have embraced many roles throughout their journey, including organizer, teacher, producer, director, and manager. Galia is currently stewarding a regenerative homestead on Eastern Band of Cherokee land, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, with their partner Tim.
Galia is a leader passionate about creating a future for Hands and Feet of Asheville that is rooted in the Presbyterian Church (USA), while leaning into an ecumenical, interfaith approach centering Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging; a space that welcomes Young Adults of all backgrounds that is deeply responsive to the needs of young adults who are the emerging leaders of tomorrow.

Hands and Feet's dedicated Board of Directors through time has included clergy, non-profit leaders, professional artists, regional executives, counselors, social workers, fundraising professionals, teachers, and lay leaders from an ecumenical range of faith communities, who come together in their belief that this kind of program can make a difference in our world, and in the lives of our young adult participants.
